This Weeks Useful Tool for Computer Users – ColorPix

happyscreen.JPGI come across quite a few programs, applications and features almost every day in the course of normal work-a-day research trying to find the right tools to use in the Computer Consulting Business.

As a result, I often find some little known Free Downloadable or Online Features that could be of use to almost anyone to make their computing experience a little bit better and more productive.

This is just such a find…

How often do you see a color you want to use on your website or blog or maybe even for some printed material like your Business Cards? You can see it on your computer screen, but can only tell it’s some kind of Blue or Red but have no idea how to convert that into a numeric format that is usable.

Enter ColorPix

ColorPix is a small (605kb) Windows application that is easy to use, just move your mouse over the screen and the numeric values of the colors will show in the sidebar. You can even Zoom the screen to make sure you are on the exact spot you want to see.

This is a Free application, but Color Schemer has other, more complex color coders for the more advanced designers and webmasters for the Pro (to buy) Apps.

I hope you find this tool to be something useful in your daily computing experience.

UnFREEzHave you ever wanted to set up an animated Banner Ad or a short slideshow to put on your Blog or Website? Now you can do it easily with this high speed, small Windows application. The best part is that it’s FREE!

UnFREEz will take any number of GIF files and convert them into ONE GIF file you can use just about anywhere.

It’s easy to dowload the zip file and even easier to use. If you can Drag & Drop files, you can set up your single file animated GIF and start using it within minutes.

Below is an example of a Banner Ad for this site that I use on some of my Ad Campaigns.

Maintenance Mode (WP Plugin)

Normally, when setting up a new blog or website I will use WampServer for testing new Themes and plugins. However, sometimes you need to do some type of maintenance or setup & testing on a Live Blog.

This tool lets you show visitors a Customized page instead of the normal error pages they get when visiting your site while you are doing something in the background.

As an added feature, you can still view your site while logged in while visitors get your customized message telling them when to return to see your updated page.

I hope you find this tool to be something useful in your daily computing experience.
