This Weeks Useful Tool for Computer Users – f.lux

happyscreen.JPGI come across quite a few programs, applications and features almost every day in the course of normal work-a-day research trying to find the right tools to use in the Computer Consulting Business.

As a result, I often find some little known Free Downloadable or Online Features that could be of use to almost anyone to make their computing experience a little bit better and more productive.

This is just such a find…

If you are like me and work all hours of the day and night, you will probably need a little something to make Screen Glare a little less of a “pain in the eyes” when the daylight turns into the twilight and then total darkness.

I came across a little Application for Windows and Linux users (sorry MAC fans) called f.lux that dims your screen when the daylight turns into the evening light with no input from you other than during the original installation. Then it will automatically reset to daylight settings at Dawn. The only thing you have to do is nothing more than inputting your latitude and longitude (not to worry, there is a nice little search feature using your home town to get the info) for it to function.

I actually love this new application, the only improvement they could come up with would be a light sensor for those rainy days and eclipses that have nothing to do with the sun’s rising and setting.

I hope you find this tool to be something useful in your daily computing experience.

If you find something you think should be included, please use the comments below or use my Contact Form to let me know and I will be sure to check it out for inclusion in a future article.

Update: There is now a MAC version as well, it must be good!
